Good Morning and thanks for your kind attention.

Hoping to gain insight into the BEST Cables to use with Effects pedals.

I have some George L cables, and I am wondering if you think that these
would do well for wiring a pedal board? I also have fMonster, but they seem
to make the tone brighter, I.e more treble.

the goal is to pass the signal through the chain without adding noise or
changing tone.

Your thoughts please,

daniel

KOOL! =) I just wouldn't know how to begin.. so for me , prefab or quick
construct would work best ..

I've done boards with George Ls for other people, but I prefer the
Planet Waves sets myself - I find them easier to continuity check as I'm
building them. George Ls do save some space, though...can't go wrong
either way.

Noise/tone changes are going to depend far and away more on your pedals
and how you chain and power them than using either of these cable sets, IMO.

And you can always cut your treble...

I know what you mean about the Monster cable, I too found them to be
very bright.

http://www.award-session.com/cleartone_cables.html

I bought multiple sizes for my guitar and pedals. They come with neutrik
ends and is very affordable - I got the silent neutrik plugs for the
instrument cable. They also come with little coloured rings which are
colour coded so you can make sure your cable always goes in the same
direction (pointless? maybe)

They use van damme cable, and in my opinion it's excellent, very natural
sounding. No distinct flavour or characteristic (unlike the monster stuff).

And terminated to last. you won't regret it :)

It's probably the least critical area for the cable itself, but
important to have decent plug to jack connections. I've been known to
build my own from an old guitar cable that has gone crackly at one end.
This type of plug gives maximum clearance:

A male/male coupler is another option. Here's one pic, but somebody
makes one with an offset that makes it easier for pedals that don't line
up exactly:
